Apprentice Underwriter

Overview

An exciting and challenging role for a candidate able to take responsibility for their own development and adapt to a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will learn how to underwrite non standard property insurance and be supported through their CII qualifications, opening the door to a succesful career in property underwriting.

 

Job Purpose

•           Responsible for underwriting and processing property policies across our range of products

•           Ensuring policies are correctly underwritten

•           Responsible for liaising with brokers and client to obtain the information required to underwrite property insurance policies.

 

Key Result Areas

•           Deliver excellent customer service to clients / IFA’s and Brokers throughout

•           Underwrite property insurance policies - either new or existing

•           Demonstrate consistent performance and become authorised to bind risks

•           Making commercial decisions when issuing renewals to retain or gain the business

•           Responding to underwriting referrals; providing advice and guidance on underwriting matters

•           Processing of magenta:prestige policies

•           Making decisions and assisting with premium reviews both at renewal and mid term

•           Be proactive in considering the department’s processes and in highlighting the need for change/improvement.

•           Authorisation of all policies, both referred and non-referred

•           Eye for detail with accurate data entry and typing skills

•           Demonstrates a 'can do’ attitude

•           Computer literate and thorough understanding of inet3 Trading Platform

 

Qualifications

•           Working towards completion of the Cert CII or willigness to start

•           A-Level Standard Qualifications

 

Technical Experience

•           Basic understanding of Residential Property Insurance

•           Basic understanding of Property Insurance Sales and/or Underwriting

•           General Understanding of Property Insurance Claims

•           General Understanding of FCA GI Regulation
